Turritella hamiltoni was named by Deshayes (1861) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleogene; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mesalia hamiltoni by Cossmann and Pissarro (1910); it was recombined as Sigmesalia hamiltoni by Le Renard (1986).
