Taxonomy
Ostrea pusio was named by Linnaeus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Eastern Atlantic. DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Recent; Indian Ocean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Pecten pusio by Pennant (1777) and Wood (1850); it was recombined as Chlamys pusio by Cox (1936), Azzaroli (1958) and Mongin (1968); it was recombined as Crassadoma pusio by Waller (1993); it was recombined as Talochlamys pusio by Alejandrino et al. (2011).
