Taxonomy
Piscolithax tedfordi was named by Barnes (1984). Its type specimen is UCR 15972, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 11, which is in a Messinian coastal horizon in the Almejas Formation of Mexico.
