Taxonomy
Scenella virginica was named by Resser (1938). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 23j. 1 mile northeast of Austinville, Max Meadows Quadrangle , which is in a Delamaran carbonate dolomite in the Shady Formation of Virginia.
It was recombined as Scenella (Protoconchioides) virginica by Shaw (1962); it was recombined as Protoconchioides virginica by Geyer (1994) and Wagner (2023).
