Eshanosaurus was named by Xu et al. (2001). Its type is Eshanosaurus deguchiianus.
It was assigned to Therizinosauroidea by Xu et al. (2001) and Xu et al. (2002); and to Therizinosauridae by Clark et al. (2004).
