Weixiella was named by Guo and Chen (1985). Its type is Weixiella diana.

It was assigned to Pachycardiidae by Guo and Chen (1985); to Permophorinae by Hautmann (2001); and to Kalenteridae by Ros-Franch et al. (2014).
