Taxonomy
Ziphirostrum turninense was named by Du Bus (1868). Its type specimen is IRSNB 3785-M.539, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Anvers, which is in a Miocene/Pliocene marine horizon in Belgium.

It was synonymized subjectively with Mioziphius belgicus by Abel (1905).
