Taxonomy
Iguanodon prestwichii was named by Hulke (1880). Its type specimen is UMO J.3303 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chawley brick pit, Cumnor (d), which is in a Kimmeridgian marine claystone/claystone in the Kimmeridge Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Camptosaurus prestwichii by Lydekker (1889), Mansel-Pleydell (1902), Nopcsa (1902), Gilmore (1909), Kuhn (1964), Galton and Powell (1980), Galton (1980), Galton (1980), Bartholomai and Molnar (1981), Weishampel and Weishampel (1983), Milner and Norman (1984), Casanovas et al.
