Taxonomy
Gaimardiidae was named by Hedley (1916) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5170]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Leptonacea by Newell (1965); to Gaimardiacea by Vokes (1980), Stilwell and Zinsmeister (1992); and to Gaimardioidea by Nevesskaja (2009), Bouchet et al. (2010), Carter et al. (2011).
