Taxonomy
Phestia ranfti was named by Bradshaw (1999). It is not extant. Its type specimen is CM M-14017A/1, a valve. Its type locality is Adam Mudstone, Inangahua & Waitahu Outliers, Reefton area, New Zealand, which is in an Emsian marine mudstone/siltstone in the Adam Mudstone Formation of New Zealand.
