Taxonomy
Cerkesia contiae was named by Monari (2003). Its type specimen is MACB291 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sekinindoruk, Cerkes River, which is in a Kimmeridgian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal grainstone in the Aktas Formation of Türkiye. It is the type species of Cerkesia, Hamamlia.
It was recombined as Hamamlia contiae by Monari (2006).
