Decomposita tristriata was named by Vršanský (2024). Its type specimen is PIN 2452/337, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Karatau-Karabastau (PIN collection 2452), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan.
