Taxonomy
Peltura punctata was named by Crosfield and Skeat (1896). Its type specimen is SMA 3099 (lectotype), an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Triarthrus punctatus by Raw (1908), Henningsmoen (1957); it was recombined as Porterfieldia punctata by Fortey and Owens (1978).
