Taxonomy
Hemimenia latifalcata was named by Gardner and Campbell (2002). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality E45/f9550, Southland, which is in a Bajocian/Callovian marine sandstone in New Zealand. It is the type species of Hemimenia, Hemipelex.
It was recombined as Hemipelex latifalcata by Gardner and Campbell (2007).
