Lorelus minutulis was named by Doyen and Poinar (1994). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Poinar coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
It was recombined as Lorelopsis minutulis by Aalbu et al. (2023).
