Taxonomy
Palaeocosmomya aplatum was named by Fletcher (1946). Its type specimen is UWA WL1(A) and is a mold. Its type locality is UWA WL1, Coolkilya Pool, Minilya River, which is in an Artinskian marine shale in the Quinnanie Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Cosmomya (Palaeocosmomya) aplata by Dickins and Shah (1965).
