Taxonomy
Laiyangella zhangi was named by Zhao et al. (2022). Its type specimen is NIGP200781, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Nanligezhuang, Laiyang City (NIGP collection), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large shale in the Laiyang Formation of China.
