Taxonomy
Comatulinae was named by Fleming (1828). It is extant. Its type is Comatula. It was considered monophyletic by Summers et al. (2014).

It was assigned to Comasteridae by Hess and Messing (2011); and to Comatulidae by Summers et al. (2014).
