Taxonomy
Tenthredo erythrocephala was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant. It is the type species of Acantholyda, Acantholyda (Acantholyda).

It was recombined as Acantholyda (Acantholyda) erythrocephala by Taeger et al. (2010); it was recombined as Acantholyda erythrocephala by Nel (2004), Archibald and Rasnitsyn (2015).
