Plesiopharos moelensis
Taxonomy
Plesiopharos moelensis was named by Puértolas-Pascual et al. (2021). Its type specimen is ML2302, a partial skeleton (partial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Praia da Concha, which is in a Sinemurian carbonate marl in Portugal. It is the type species of Plesiopharos.

Puértolas-Pascual et al. 2021 | lesiopharos moelensis gen. et sp. nov. is a plesiosaur diagnosed by the following autapomorphies: il- iac blade with rounded and convex anterior flank and less expanded than the posterior flank; ischial facet of the ilium highly developed and twice as long as the acetabular facet; first pectoral vertebra with the apex of the neural spine in- clined posterodorsally and forming a small rounded tip at the posterodorsal margin.
