Proetus (Pudoproetus) guangxiensis was named by Zhu and Yuan (1988). Its type specimen is 67/Nb 11-7/105875, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Pudoproetus guangxiensis by Yuan and Xiang (1998).
