Taxonomy
Cimolithium eleanorae was named by Allison (1955). Its type specimen is UCMP 33537, a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Alisitos Fm. (UCB A-8321), which is in an Aptian shallow subtidal sandstone in the Alisitos Formation of Mexico.
