Ammonites bucklandi pinguis was named by Quenstedt (1883).

It was recombined as Pararnioceras pingue by Guérin-Franiatte (1966); it was recombined as Arietites pinguis by Schlegelmilch (1976); it was recombined as Caenisites pingue by Corna and Dommergues (1995).
