Taxonomy
Crepicephalus perplexus was named by Palmer (1954) [Crepicephalus? perplexus]. Its type specimen is UT-32119, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is MC-529, which is in a Paibian marine limestone in the Riley Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Coosella perplexa by Stitt and Perfetta (2000).
