Xenoceltites rotula
Taxonomy
Gyronites rotula was named by Waagen (1895). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chitta-Wan near Ghari, lower Ceratite Sandstone, Salt Range, which is in a Smithian carbonate sandstone in the Ceratite Sandstone Formation of Pakistan.
It was recombined as Xenodiscus rotula by Welter (1922) and Smith (1932); it was recombined as Xenoceltites rotula by Spath (1934); it was synonymized subjectively with Xenoceltites subevolutus by Dagis and Ermakova (1990).
