Taxonomy
Mylagaulus was named by Cope (1878) [also, but incorrectly said to be 1881]. Its type is Mylagaulus sesquipedalis.
It was assigned to Mylagaulidae by Cope (1878), Hay (1902), Baskin (1980), Dalquest and Patrick (1989), McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Mylagaulinae by Lu et al. (2016).
