Taxonomy
Blainia buttsi was named by Rasetti (1965). Its type specimen is USNM 145023, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM 23w, which is in a Solvan/Menevian carbonate limestone in the Pleasant Hill Limestone Formation of Pennsylvania.
