Taxonomy
Proetus clarus was named by Hall (1861).

It was recombined as Dechenella (Basidechenella) clara by Stumm (1953); it was recombined as Basidechenella clara by Lieberman (1994).

Lieberman 1994Facial suture straight between anterior edge of eye and anterior border furrow, diverging anteriorly at roughly 150; genal spine projects back to sixth thoracic segment; anterior cephalic border long, equal to length between distal tip of S1 and point midway between S2 and S3, concave dorsally; 11 pygidial axial rings; prominent notch developed on pygidium in posteromedian margin.
