Endoplegma was named by Finks (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-u Sepkoski's reference number: 203]. Its type is Endoplegma calathus.

It was assigned to Lyssacinosida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Docodermatidae by Finks et al. (2004).
