It was assigned to Pseudolemuridae by Schlosser (1877); to Apatemyinae by Van Valen (1967); and to Apatemyidae by Simpson (1940), Russell et al. (1979), Hooker (1986), McKenna and Bell (1997), Silcox et al. (2010).
