Taxonomy
Caestaranea jurassica was named by Selden et al. (2019). Its type specimen is NIGP168480, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (NIGP collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China. It is the type species of Caestaranea.
