Taxonomy
Karlia stephenensis was named by Walcott (1889). Its type specimen is USNM 61731 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Corynexochus stephenensis by Walcott (1916); it was recombined as Bonnaspis stephenensis by Resser (1936).
