Myodochinae was named by Still (1874). It is extant.

It was reranked as the tribe Myodochini by Péricart (2001), Scudder (2010).

It was assigned to Lygaeidae by Scudder (1878), Scudder (1890); and to Rhyparochrominae by Péricart (2001), Scudder (2010).
