Taxonomy
Cymbophora buttensis was named by Anderson (1958). Its type specimen is CAS 10643 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS Loc. 1125, mile west of Pentz, which is in a Campanian marine sandstone in the Chico Formation of California.
