Teyia branislav was named by Vršanský and Wang (2018). Its type specimen is Lingpoge Amber Museum BA17011 and is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Burmese amber (Lingpoge Amber Museum coll), which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial amber in Myanmar.
