It was assigned to Stegosauria by Winkler (1893); to Stegosauridae by Hennig (1915); to Pareiasauria by Broom (1913), Haughton (1932); to Pareiasauridae by Schwarz (1914), Hartmann-Weinberg (1937), Efremov (1940), Carroll (1988); and to Pareiasauria by Lee (1997).
