Taxonomy
Valdaeshna mikei was named by Zheng et al. (2018). Its type specimen is NHMUK PI II.3105, a hindwing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Smokejacks Brickworks, which is in a Barremian pond claystone/siltstone in the Weald Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
