Taxonomy
Trimerorhachidae was named by Cope (1882). It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Archegosauridae by Hay (1902); it was misspelled as Trimerorachidae by Watson (1919), Kuhn (1946), Daly (1973), Carroll (1988), Yates and Warren (2000), Schoch and Milner (2014).

It was assigned to Rachitomi by Watson (1919); to Rhachitomi by Kuhn (1946); to Trimerorhachoidea by Daly (1973), Carroll (1988); and to Dvinosauria by Yates and Warren (2000), Schoch and Milner (2014).
