Taxonomy
Proetus roundyi was named by Girty (1926).

It was recombined as Thigiffides roundyi by Hessler (1965); it was recombined as Griffithidella (Thigriffides) roundyi by Hahn and Hahn (1970); it was recombined as Thigriffides roundyi by Brezinski (1998).
