Taxonomy
Ictidochampsa platyceps was named by Broom (1948). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is New Bethesda Commonage, which is in a Wuchiapingian/Changhsingian terrestrial horizon in the Balfour Formation of South Africa.
