Taxonomy
Giovaraites massiliae was named by Frau et al. (2016). Its type specimen is FCC FO, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bed B46, Podestat–Pouli, which is in a Barremian offshore shelf wackestone in France. It is the type species of Giovaraites.
