Taxonomy
Volutostrombus eocenica was named by Garvie (2013). Its type specimen is TMM NPL46617, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 145-T-52: Two-Mile Creek, which is in a Bartonian marine horizon in the Cook Mountain Formation of Texas.
