Taxonomy
Leptaena salopiensis was named by Williams (1963). Its type specimen is BB 29144, a valve (external and internal mould of a ventral valve), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Leptaena (Leptaena) salopiensis by Cocks (2010).
