Apiculatasporites cingulatus was named by Jaramillo and Dilcher (2001) [Typus: housed in the paleobotanical collection of the Florida Museum of Natural History, Gainesville, Florida, USA. Type locality: Piñalerita Creek near Sabanalarga- PaleoDB number 29073. Dimensions in equatorial view. This species is placed provisionally in genus Apiculatasporites Ibrahim 1933. ]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is UFP 43, 7.4 x 81.5, a microspore.
