Liomesaspis laevis

Taxonomy

Liomesaspis laevis was named by Raymond (1944). Its type specimen is MCZ 4698, a carapace, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Mazon Creek (MCZ collection), which is in a Westphalian D deltaic mudstone in the Carbondale Formation of Illinois. It is the type species of Liomesaspis.

Synonyms

Pringlia fritschi was named by Remy and Remy (1959). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Borehole A near Plötz, 583.15 m depth, which is in a Stephanian C fluvial-lacustrine siliciclastic in the Wettin Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Palatinaspis fritschi by Malz and Poschmann (1993); it was synonymized subjectively with Liomesaspis laevis by Dunlop et al. (2013), Lamsdell (2020), Dunlop et al. (2020).
Pringlia leonardensis was named by Tasch (1961). Its type specimen is W.U. 200, a carapace, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Annelly VIII, bed 2, which is in an Artinskian lacustrine lime mudstone in the Wellington Formation of Kansas.

It was recombined as Liomesaspis leonardensis by Lamsdell (2016); it was synonymized subjectively with Liomesaspis laevis by Lamsdell (2020).
Palatinaspis beimbaueri was named by Malz and Poschmann (1993). Its type specimen is NMM 5825, a carapace, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Excavation east of Niedermoschel, road to Alsenz, which is in an Asselian lacustrine - large siliciclastic in the Meisenheim Formation of Germany.

It was synonymized subjectively with Liomesaspis laevis by Lamsdell (2020), Dunlop et al. (2020).
Pringlia bispinosa was named by Raymond (1944). Its type specimen is YPM 16911, a carapace, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Mazon Creek (YPM collection), which is in a Westphalian D deltaic mudstone in the Carbondale Formation of Illinois.

It was synonymized subjectively with Liomesaspis laevis by Lamsdell (2020), Dunlop et al. (2020).
Pringlia demaistrei was named by Vandenberghe (1960). It is an impression. Its type locality is Loire coalfield, well 6, 1049.6 m depth , which is in a Stephanian C fluvial-lacustrine shale in France.

It was synonymized subjectively with Liomesaspis laevis by Lamsdell (2020).
