Taxonomy

Polydolops was named by Ameghino (1897). Its type is Polydolops thomasi. It is the type genus of Polydolopidae, Polydolopinae.

It was assigned to Polydolopinae by Marshall (1982), Flynn and Wyss (1999); to Polydolopimorphia by Goin et al. (2006); and to Polydolopidae by Ameghino (1897), Simpson (1935), Simpson (1948), Paula Couto (1952), McKenna and Bell (1997), Goin et al. (2009).
