Taxonomy
Donacia splendida was named by Théobald (1935). Its type specimen is MNHN-F-R06676, an elytra, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Lac Chambon (Piton coll), which is in a Gelasian crater lake diatomite/volcaniclastic in France.
