Scharyia couviniana was named by Osmolska (1957). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bed No. 5. Wydryszow, Holy Cross Mountains, which is in an Emsian carbonate limestone/marl in the Grzegorzowice Formation of Poland.
