Taxonomy

Melanophilini was named by Bedel (1921). It is extant.

It was assigned to Buprestinae by Bellamy (2008), Bouchard et al. (2011).

Melanophila, Phaenops, Psiloptera vermiculata

Synonyms

Psiloptera vermiculata was named by Piton (1940). Its type specimen is Coll. Piton 381, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Menat (Piton collection), which is in a Selandian crater lake diatomite in the Menat Formation of France.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Balazuc and Descarpentries (1964).
