Chesaconcavus belgradensis

Taxonomy
Concavus belgradensis was named by Zullo (1984). Its type specimen is USNM 348754, an other, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Martin Marietta Quarry [Belgrade Fm], which is in a Chattian/Aquitanian offshore shelf limestone in the Belgrade Formation of South Carolina.

It was recombined as Chesaconcavus belgradensis by Zullo (1992).

Zullo 1984Medium to large, conic to cylindric shell with small, sub-diamond-shaped orifice and prominently costate parietes; radii narrow in conic and broad in cylindric specimens, with oblique summits; basis thick, porous, cup-shaped to cylindric in crowded specimens. Scutum thin, flat, except for re-flexed tergal margin; length of basal margin equal to or greater than height of plate; exterior of scutum ornamented by fine radial striae restricted to central part of plate. Tergum thin, narrow, beaked; tergal spur narrow (30% of basal margin), with its length equal to or exceeding distance of spur from basiscutal angle, and placed slightly scutad of center of basal margin; tergal spur furrow partially infolded, open to apex.
